In the past months we introduced you to the new Campaign Interns, but our team is still growing! This week, meet Mill Rhoades, Futurewise's new Bookkeeper. Read more to get to know her!

Share a little about your story!

Is the Seattle climate cold enough? I was born in Manila, Philippines, and when I was a teenager moved to Hawaii. After graduating from Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus, I moved to the “mainland;” Long Beach California is where I landed. After two years, my sister and I were not liking the California lifestyle that we actually got a map and looked at the entire United States to plan where to move. We ended up in Seattle and most of our friends ask, “why Seattle?” it seems like my route was getting colder and colder. Well, I’m not moving to Alaska so I think this is it.

Why do you believe in Futurewise's work? Why do you think what we do is important?

In my travels I compare how we preserve and develop our land here in the United States. We are quickly growing and seems like the focus is on “build, build, build” without thinking about the impact. We need to focus on studying and learning what the impact will be on our land for the future. I feel that Futurewise is the intelligent brakes on this fast culture of build build build.

Share a little bit about the work you do outside of Futurewise.

I met my husband in the 90’s and we have been married for almost 28 years now. We have two daughters; one is a freshman at Western Washington University in Bellingham and one that just graduated from University of Hawaii. Our family likes to travel, go on cruises and camping. We even camp in the snow! Places we have visited are Hawaii (of course), Boracay, Indonesia, Singapore, Korea, China, Hong Kong, London, Italy, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Canada and different states.

We're glad to have Mill on our team! If you want to say hello , you can always email her at
