2008 Legislative Agenda
The 2008 legislative session is underway and Futurewise is working to advance a legislative agenda that supports good growth management and prevents rollbacks of community protections. Here's a little more about two of our priorities in the legislature:
Local Solutions to Global Warming HB2797/SB6580
The choices made in today's local land use and zoning plans about where a growing population will live and work and how they will get around, have a huge impact on global warming pollution for decades to come. This bill adds a goal to the Growth Management Act (GMA) of reducing global warming pollution and adapting to the likely impacts of climate change.
It provides tools and resources to local governments to make responsible devisions about how we grow to reduce driving and meet the growing demand for green, walkable communities.

Reforming Washington's Vesting Laws HB3202/ SB6704
To protect our communities from a legal loophole allowing irresponsible development, we are continuing our work with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW local 21) to reform our vesting laws.
