Eco Encore
Futurewise is a charter member of Eco Encore, an organization generating financial support for environmental organizations by donating the sale of used books, CDs and videos.
Eco Encore provides a means for people who are trying to get rid of unwanted items and acts as a fundraising vehicle for organizations like Futurewise that are working to protect the natural environment.
How does the system work?
Eco Encore collects donations of used media (books, CDs, DVDs and videos) from individuals and leverages the value of these items by selling them online. Items are listed for sale on Amazon and Half.com for 30 days. At the end of the 30-day listing period, Eco Encore distributes sale proceeds to an environmental organization selected by the media donor. Items that are not sold or are unable to be listed online are donated to the Friends of the Seattle Public Library.
How can I participate?
By using Eco Encore's donor form you can donate your used books, CDs or videos and designate the proceeds to fund Futurewise. After filling it out, call Eco Encore at (206) 297-6995 or email them at donations@ecoencore.org and tell them where and when to pick up your donations.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. Eco Encore is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and can provide you with a receipt for your donation of used books, CDs or videos.
Thanks for trying this new philanthropic twist on Reduce Reuse Recycle!
