Clark County
Late last year, Clark County approved and adopted what’s believed to be the largest expansion of urban sprawl in state history. They added over 12,000 acres to the County’s urban areas - more than a third of this represented 11% of the county’s remaining farmland. By no means was this the future Clark County residents had signed up for, or envisioned.
So alongside a local partner, Clark County Natural Resources Coalition, we filed an appeal. Last week the hearings board removed 2500 acres of farmland from the newly urban areas. This means that more than half of the farmland the County planned to pave over will again be protected from unnecessary sprawling development.
We couldn’t have protected this land without the help of our Clark County friends and members. While we fully believe the County is preparing to appeal the decision, we’re in it for the long haul because we know you are too.
