Join Futurewise and Greg Vandy, host of KEXP’s The Roadhouse, for a conversation about the role of music and propaganda in lead up to Washington’s growth potential in the 1930s and 40s.
Chris Wierzbicki, Executive Director of Futurewise, will interview Vandy, whose recent book, 26 Songs in 30 Days, chronicles Woody Guthrie’s contract with the federal government to write folk songs about the Grand Coulee Dam project. The conversation will also explore the “downstream” impacts of historic water policy on Washington State today, and will be accompanied by live artists playing a selection of Woody Guthrie’s songs.
